BUILD Initiative
The BUILD Initiative helps state leaders prepare young children ages birth to five to succeed by helping their families access high quality early learning, family and parenting support, early intervention for children with special needs and comprehensive health, mental health and nutritional services. BUILD assists states in planning and implementing a comprehensive early childhood “system of systems” that crosses policy domains and helps ensure that families get the services they need. Ultimately, BUILD serves as a catalyst for change and a national resource on early childhood development and policy.

D.C. Public Charter School Board (PCSB)
The D.C. Public Charter School Board (PCSB) was created in 1996 by an amendment to the D.C. School Reform Act of 1995 to provide additional public education opportunities for District of Columbia residents. Public charter schools authorized by the PCSB are independently operated by a non-profit board of trustees, and are monitored regularly by the PCSB. See the work we have done with the DC PCSB here.

District of Columbia Public Schools
Office of Early Childhood administers Head Start, preschool, and pre-kindergarten programs serving nearly 4,200 children in 85 elementary schools throughout the city. The shared goal of the team at DCPS is to create the highest performing urban school district in the nation, and to once and for all close the achievement gap that separates low-income students and students of color from their higher-income and white peers. First Focus
First Focus is a bipartisan advocacy organization dedicated to making children and families a priority in federal policy and budget decisions. First Focus takes a unique approach to children’s advocacy, engaging both traditional and non-traditional partners in a broad range of efforts to increase federal investments in programs that address the needs of our nation’s children. In all of our work, we seek to raise awareness regarding public policies impacting children and families and to ensure that related programs have the resources necessary to help children grow up in a healthy and nurturing environment.

Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services
Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has primary responsibility for the delivery of public health and human services that address the basic and critical needs of the county's most vulnerable children, adults and seniors in Montgomery County. First and foremost, the Department provides core services that protect the community's health, protect the health and safety of at-risk children and vulnerable adults, and address basic human needs including food, shelter, clothing and personal care. National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies is our nation's leading voice for child care. NACCRRA works with more than 700 state and local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies nationwide. The Office of Head Start, Administration for Children and Families, US Department of Health and Human Services Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. The Head Start program provides grants to local public and private non-profit and for-profit agencies to provide comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families.
